July is Teacher Appreciation Month at Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum BIG CYPRESS SEMINOLE INDIAN RESERVATION, Fla. (May 12, 2023) - The Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum will host teachers all throughout the month of July for free! Teacher Appreciation Month is an opportunity for educators to get familiar with the Museum’s galleries and boardwalk at no cost. Up to four guests will receive 50 percent discounted admission. There are many excellent learning opportunities on the Big Cypress Seminole Indian reservation, ranging from the history and culture of the Native Americans to the diverse eco-systems of Florida. “We welcome teachers to come learn about the Seminole Tribe and the Florida Everglades at our accredited Museum, and take their excitement back to the classroom. Seminole history is Florida history. We are an incredible resource for teachers and the perfect place for an immersive field trip,” said Abena Robinson, Education Coordinator. Educators should sign up in advance at www.ahtahthiki.com/teachers and bring their school-issued identification the day of the visit. The Museum will be closed on July 4th, but is otherwise open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. About the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum opened in 1997 and is owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Situated in the Everglades on a 66-acre cypress dome on the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation, the museum offers more than 5,000 square feet of gallery space. Exhibits feature rare artifacts and lifelike dioramas that depict Seminole life at the turn of the century. In 2009, the Museum became the first tribally governed museum to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
