YMCA of Collier County to host Free Junior Tennis Community Day at the North Campus Tennis Center in Naples May 2023 — The YMCA of Collier County and the PTASH Program is holding a free junior tennis community day on Saturday, May 20 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Free beginner mini clinics for juniors, along with open play, games and competitions for all ages and abilities will be held during the event. Tennis racquets will be provided. The PTASH Program (Promoting Tennis and Student Health) helps qualifying kids in our community participate in youth tennis programs sponsored by the YMCA of Collier County with 100% of their cost covered. The name of the program was inspired by Mike Prystash, a former YMCA member and participant, nicknamed PTASH by his closest friends. Mike loved tennis and it was his desire that all kids experience the game regardless of their family’s ability to pay. He believed strongly in the benefits of athletic programs for adolescents; teaching them skills, discipline and camaraderie that supports our community and a healthy lifestyle. Mike passed away April 26, 2020, at the age of 50 due to complications with Type 1 Diabetes. In honor of his life and love for sports, particularly tennis, the YMCA of Collier County in partnership with Mike’s friends and family have created an endowment in his name that will go towards providing free youth tennis programs in Collier County. “He would be so pleased that this program is anchored at the YMCA in Naples,” said his wife, Lisa Prystash. “Mike participated in local USTA matches at the Y and his daughter attended preschool on Pine Ridge Road.” For more information on this event or to register, call (239) 653-9235 or email naplestennis@ymcacollier.org. # # # About the YMCA of Collier County The YMCA of Collier County has served as a leading nonprofit committed to improving lives in spirit, mind, and body and strengthening our communities through a focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
