Campgrounds & Trails Reopen Following Cypress Camp Trail Wildfire OCHOPEE, FL – Effective Saturday, April 22, 2023, Big Cypress National Preserve will reopen closures associated with the Cypress Camp Trail Wildfire. The area was temporarily closed to ensure the safety of the public during and after wildfire activity. Firefighters have surveyed the area and determined that conditions are now safe to reopen. Backcountry users should exercise caution when traveling in recently burned areas. Visitors should be vigilant in looking up and around and be aware that there could be fire weakened trees in the area. The following areas are now open for all recreational use including off-road vehicles, hiking, camping, hunting and commercial activities.
