US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND COLLIER COUNTY TO HOST PUBLIC MEETINGS TO RE-INITIATE COASTAL RESILIENCY STUDY (April 14, 2023) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and non-Federal Sponsor, Collier County, Florida, announce the re-initiation of the Collier County Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study, and invite the public to attend two National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Scoping Meetings. The purpose of the study is to identify coastal storm flood risks from coastal storm surge, to evaluate measures formulated to manage the risk of coastal storm surge flooding to residents, industries, businesses, and infrastructure, and to improve human safety and coastal resiliency in Collier County and its municipalities, including City of Naples and City of Marco Island. The USACE plans to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and to re-evaluate and reformulate plans and to assess environmental impacts from reasonable project alternatives. The scoping process will aid in determining the scope of the analysis and any potential significant impacts. The process will also assist in identifying alternatives and the information needed to evaluate alternatives. The scoping meetings will include one virtual meeting and one in-person meeting. The virtual meeting will be held on April 18, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.
