Avow Awarded $10,000 Grant from Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church in Support of Simulation Lab Grant for expansion of Simulation Lab for more efficient care of patients NAPLES, Fla. (March 7, 2023) - Avow received a $10,000 grant from the Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church to help fund the new high-fidelity medical manikin, “Nurse Annie,” to be used in its expanded Simulation Lab. Nurse Annie is a sophisticated computer inside a lifelike mannequin, created to assist nurses, social workers, therapists, volunteers and other professional care providers with experiences similar to what they will encounter while in the field. This allows Avow staff to review the efficiency and effectiveness of care while working in an environment that mirrors the real-life scenarios they may have with patients. The Simulation Lab is equipped with audio and video recording devices that allow staff to play back training sessions to review areas for improvement. Staff report increased levels of confidence following training sessions in this supportive and controlled environment. On a typical day, Avow staff visit patients in a number of settings, from the patient’s own home to care facilities around Collier County. Patients can experience the attentive care and support of nurses, chaplains, music and art therapists, massage therapists and more. In 2022, Avow staff made a total of 1,578 visits to provide these exceptional services. About Avow: Avow was founded in 1983 as Collier County’s original, nonprofit hospice. Today, Avow’s nonprofit companies provide palliative care consultations for adults facing chronic or serious illness and hospice care and bereavement support services for children and adults. To learn more about the scope of services provided by Avow, call 239-261-4404 or visit www.avowcares.org. About Trinity-by-the-Cove: For decades, Trinity-by-the-Cove has raised money for Collier County charities through the Art of Giving, a fundraising event that promotes the understanding that generosity to those less fortunate nourishes the human spirit, enriches our lives, and transforms our community. The Art of Giving allows Trinity-by-the-Cove to raise funds to be placed in the Archangel Fund, which then distributes funds to a select number of charities in Collier County.
