Avow announces Mother’s Day Celebration Dinner May 12 The event honors the spirit of motherhood for grieving families NAPLES, Fla. (April 5, 2023) – Avow is planning a Mother’s Day Celebration Dinner for children in the community who have lost mothers or grandmothers on May 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ispiri Community Center at 1205 Whippoorwill Lanes, Naples. Children and families in the community are invited to bring an adult figure with them, as well as a memento of passed mothers and grandmothers to share. The event is part of Avow Kids, a program to help children deal with loss and create coping skills to handle big emotions. Avow Kids, designed for children ages 5-17, supports children and families experiencing the loss of a parent, sibling, friend or relative. Additionally, the no-cost services help children process and heal from other types of loss, including divorce, instability in the foster care system, deployment, incarceration or the loss of a pet. “Losing a parent can be tough, but families don’t have to navigate the sea of emotions on their own,” says Lea Pascotto, Avow Kids Manager. “Avow offers resources and help with grief. This annual event is an opportunity for healing, honoring and celebrating the spirit of motherhood.” While the dinner is complimentary, reservations are required by May 5 to avowkids@avowcares.org or call 239-261-4404. About Avow: Avow was founded in 1983 as Collier County’s original, nonprofit hospice. Today, Avow’s nonprofit companies provide palliative care consultations for adults facing chronic or serious illness and hospice care and bereavement support services for children and adults. To learn more about the scope of services provided by Avow, call 239-261-4404 or visit avowcares.org.
