A valuable partnership established with Neighborhood Health Clinic and the Florida Lions Eye Clinic Neighborhood Health Clinic is pleased to announce the innovative partnership with the Florida Lions Eye Clinic. The Florida Lions Eye Clinic will be housed within the Clinic’s Armstrong Medical Building delivering care to Clinic patients. This partnership will help deliver the highest eye care for those in our community realizing Clinic patients have 3-5 chronic illnesses affecting them on a daily basis. Launched in 2023, Florida Lions Eye Clinic and Neighborhood Health Clinic will add this valuable service within the Clinic’s campus allowing patients to be treated more efficiently and effectively during each visit to the Clinic. CEO Leslie Lascheid welcomes the partnership, “The vision of my parents, our Board of Directors and the leadership is to continue housing these specialty services allowing our patients to benefit during each visit giving them the care necessary to maintain their health.” The Florida Lions Eye Clinic provides exemplary and comprehensive eye care for those who cannot afford vision services. The FLLEC mission is to provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical eye care that is accessible to underserved individuals in Florida. As a nonprofit, the FLLEC relies exclusively on donor contributions and private grants for its operating revenue. Qualified patients receive a wide range of quality eye care services and medical treatments free of charge. FLLEC patients are residents of Florida, have no medical insurance of any kind, and are at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Annually, FLLEC helps over 2,000 patients, which includes over 120 in-house surgeries performed by volunteer Ophthalmologists. Hundreds of patients are referred to outside surgery centers and the cost is covered completely by the Clinic. Comprehensive exams are performed to detect issues that could be harder to correct in the future if left untreated. The Florida Lions Eye Clinic relies heavily on volunteers to help the underserved in our community prevent blindness. Cultural awareness and sensitivity are a key focus, and the Clinic is grateful for most of the staff and volunteers being bilingual to assist with translation of the diverse backgrounds that are served. The FLLEC focuses greatly on collaborative partnerships that complement the mission to serve the community and is fortunate to be partnered with the Neighborhood Health Clinic.
