St. Matthew’s House receives prestigious CityGate Distinguished Accreditation Award Naples, FL — March 9, 2023 — St. Matthew’s House has been recognized with the prestigious CityGate Network Distinguished Accreditation Award — CityGate’s highest level of accreditation. The award is presented to the nation’s leading independent, faith-based crisis shelters and life-transformation centers that are models of effective programming and operations and exemplify the best of what rescue ministries can be in their service to God and those in need. St. Matthew’s House is a non-profit organization that provides faith-based innovative solutions to those experiencing homelessness, food insecurity and poverty as well as those seeking recovery from addiction. St. Matthew’s House provides the only homeless shelters in Collier County, sheltering 300 men, women and children every night. The basic necessities of shelter, food, clothing and transportation are provided as well as wraparound services to facilitate transition from homelessness to stability and self-sufficiency. Seventy percent of shelter residents who stay 30 or more days succeed in finding employment during their stay. CityGate Network is North America’s oldest and largest community of independent faith-based crisis shelters and life-transformation centers. Through the CityGate Network program, member ministry leaders and staff participate in a comprehensive management and organizational review. Vital components are reviewed for CityGate accreditation, including regulations affecting facilities and operations; buildings, equipment and fixed assets; procedures and policies relating to a safe, efficient operation; philosophies, goals and objectives for ongoing programs; staff training and education; accounting and fund-raising practices, and relationships with supporters, clients and community. According to St. Matthew’s House CEO Steve Brooder, “The CityGate Network Distinguished Accreditation Award represents the gold standard for rescue missions nationwide. All of us at St. Matthew’s House as well as our many partners throughout the community are honored and humbled to receive this recognition for the work we do to bring light and hope into the lives of those we serve.” ABOUT ST.
