Advisory Board Vacancies The Collier County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees. Members of committees must reside and be registered to vote in Collier County. Scroll to the bottom of this page for instructions on how to apply. The Animal Services Advisory Board has two seats expiring in April, in the following categories: one law enforcement representative, and one citizen in the pet retail, boarding, or grooming industry. This seven-member board is tasked to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on the facilities, programs, and services of Collier County Domestic Animal Services. Terms are four years. The Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals has two vacancies. This board hears appeals on rejections or refusals by the Building Code Compliance Director to approve mode of construction or materials to be used in construction or alteration of a structure. Applicants must represent one of the following professions: One state licensed architect or structural engineer; one Class "A" general contractor; one state certified fire protective equipment contractor or State Certified Fire Fighter with the rank of Lieutenant or higher or State Certified Fire Safety Inspector with the rank of Lieutenant or higher; one licensed electrical contractor; and one licensed plumbing or mechanical contractor. Members must be knowledgeable in the following Collier County Codes: Florida Building Codes, Electrical Code, Fire Prevention Code, Gas Code, Mechanical Code and Swimming Pool Code. Terms are four years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board. The County Government Productivity Committee has five seats expiring in March (for representatives from each of the five commission districts), and two vacant seats for at-large members. Applicants for commission district seats must be nominated by the commissioner of the district they reside in; applicants for at-large seats may be nominated by any commissioner. This committee reviews the efficiency of departments of county government under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners and reports its findings and recommendations to the BCC. Terms are two years. The Educational Facilities Authority has one vacancy. The purpose of this five-member authority is to assist institutions for higher education in the construction, financing, and refinancing of projects. One member shall be a trustee, director, officer, or employee of an institution for higher education located in Collier County. Terms are five years. The Emergency Medical Authority has one vacancy. Applicants must have no affiliation with any hospital, fire district, EMS, municipality, or the Collier County Sheriff's Office. The purpose of this five-member Authority is to assist the Board of County Commissioners and other agencies with issues affecting pre-hospital emergency medical services, to work to improve pre-hospital medical care, to evaluate current and future EMS needs, to serve as a catalyst to effect cooperation among agencies, to evaluate requests for all Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN) in Collier County and make recommendations to the BCC. Terms are four years. The Floodplain Management Planning Committee has a vacancy for a citizen representative residing in the following area: southwest Collier County (along the US 41 corridor and south 951). The committee reviews and provides recommendations for floodplain management regulations, and for surface water and watershed management issues brought before it including, but not limited to, matters dealing with water quality and quantity. They will also develop and, at least annually, evaluate and update the Collier County Floodplain Management Plan. Members serve at the will of the County Manager. The Forest Lakes Roadway & Drainage Advisory Committee has two seats expiring in April. This five-member committee assists the Board of County Commissioners in tasks related to providing and maintaining improved roadways, lighting, traffic signs, sidewalks, beautification, and roadway related drainage within the area of the Forest Lakes Roadway & Drainage MSTU. The committee also prepares and recommends to the Board an itemized budget, work programs and priorities. Applicants must reside within the MSTU. Terms are four years. The Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone Advisory Board has four seats that expired in January 2023. Applicants must either be residents of Golden Gate City or represent business and commercial interests in the Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone. This seven-member committee was formed for the purpose of advising the BCC concerning policies and programs to attract businesses or industries to the Economic Development Zone and reviewing and making recommendations on applications for funding through the Trust Fund. Terms are two years. The Golden Gate Estates Land Trust Committee has three vacancies. This five-member committee was created to carry out the various requirements and provisions of an Agreement relating to land conveyed to the County by Avatar Properties, Inc. (f/k/a GAC Properties, Inc.). Members must reside within one of the 5 phases within the Golden Gate Estates area. Terms are four years. The Haldeman Creek Dredging Maintenance Advisory Committee has one seat expiring in March. Applicants must reside within the boundaries of the MSTU. This five-member committee was created to aid and assist the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the MSTU, to prepare and recommend an itemized budget, and to recommend work programs and priorities. Members will be appointed from different parcels, subdivisions and/or communities within the MSTU. Terms are four years. The Immokalee Local Redevelopment Advisory Board has two seats expiring in April. Applicants must qualify as one of the following: Immokalee resident, or representative of an Immokalee business. This nine-member committee assists in the implementation of the redevelopment plan for the Immokalee area. Terms are three years. The Industrial Development Authority has one seat expiring in April. This five-member authority has the power to sell industrial revenue bonds. Money generated from the bonds is used to construct industrial plants, equipment and other facilities which would then be leased or sold to private industry. Terms are four years. The Infrastructure Surtax Citizen Oversight Committee has one vacancy for a member residing in Commission District 4, and one vacancy for an at-large alternate member. Applicants should have background and experience related to financial or business management. This committee provides citizen review of the County’s expenditure of the proceeds from the Collier County and Municipal Infrastructure One-Cent Sales Surtax. Terms are two years. The Public Art Committee has two vacancies and two seats expiring in April. Applicants should have background and experience related to the visual arts, with preference given to members of local arts organizations, architects, planners, and working artists. This seven-member committee was formed to serve as a forum for advancing public art in Collier County, and to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners in matters relating to public art policies, issues, programs, and plans for the benefit of the citizens of Collier County. Terms are two years. The Public Transit Advisory Committee has one seat expiring in March. Applicants are sought in the following categories: transportation professionals, health care services, School Board representative, and transit riders. This seven-member committee makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners in matters related to transit policies, issues, programs and plans to provide mass transit services to the citizens of Collier County. Terms are three years. The Radio Road Beautification Advisory Committee has one vacancy. This five-member committee aids and assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median areas as set forth in Ordinance No. 96-84. The committee shall recommend work programs and priorities to the County Administrator. Members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU. Terms are four years. The Tourist Development Council has two seats expiring in April, for applicants who qualify as an owner or operator of a hotel, motel, or other tourist accommodations or tourism-related business. One seat must be filled by recommendation of the City of Everglades. This committee makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding uses for tourist development tax revenues and reviews all expenditures of revenues from the tourist development trust fund. Terms are 4 years. The Vanderbilt Waterway MSTU Advisory Committee has three seats expiring in February 2023. Members must be permanent residents within the MSTU boundaries. This committee assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of the MSTU of providing for dredging and maintenance of the Vanderbilt Waterway between the Bluebill Bridge and the Cocohatchee River, prepares and recommends to the BCC an itemized budget for the MSTU, and recommends work programs and priorities to the County Manager. Terms are four years.
