Local Shelter Resources Collier County and Immokalee Area - Weekend Low Temperatures With the National Weather Service predicting temperatures in the interior Collier County/Immokalee area of 34 - 40 degrees and windchill in the 30s for a couple of hours over the night on Saturday and Sunday, the following locations have advised Collier County Emergency Management of their availability as a temporary emergency inclement weather shelter. As a reminder, cold weather safety rules include: Protect People: Pay careful attention to children and the elderly. They are especially vulnerable to the cold and the least able to protect themselves. Dress in layers and wear a hat that covers your ears when outdoors. Protect Pets: Bring pets indoors. Pets that must be left outside should have an enclosed shelter with the entrance facing away from the wind. Protect Against Fires in the Home: Take the time to prepare and inspect heating equipment before using. According to the National Fire Protection Association, incorrect use of heating equipment is the leading cause of home fires. FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) Closure in Collier County In Observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day January 16, 2023 The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Donna Fiala Eagle Lakes Community Center located at 11565 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, FL 34113, will be closed in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 16. The DRC will resume operations on Tuesday, January 17, with regular operating hours, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. (closed on Sundays). New registrations for Hurricane Ian disaster assistance ended on January 12, 2023. The DRC will continue to operate for disaster case follow-up only until Thursday, January 26, 2023. Notice is hereby given that the Productivity Committee will meet on Thursday, January 19, at 8:30 a.m. in the Fifth Floor Training Room, at the Collier County Government Center, 3299 Tamiami Trail E., Naples, Florida.
About the public meeting:
Two or more members of the Board of County Commissioners may be present and participate at the meeting. The subject matter of this meeting may be an item for discussion and action at a future meeting of that board.
All interested parties are invited to attend, and to register to speak. All registered public speakers will be limited to three minutes unless changed by the chairman.
Collier County Ordinance No. 2004-05 requires that all lobbyists shall, before engaging in any lobbying activities (including, but not limited to, addressing the Board of County Commissioners, an advisory board or quasi-judicial board), register with the Clerk to the Board at the Board Minutes and Records Department.
