Avow plans children’s holiday activities A Winter Festival is planned Dec. 20 and community caroling Dec. 22 NAPLES, Fla. (Dec. 15, 2022) – The community is invited to a free Avow Kids Winter Festival December 20. Holiday fun will focus on crafts (ornaments and dreidels), music, cookie decorating, free treats, a fire truck, Nugget the miniature horse and much more! Adults and kids can play outdoor games or on a giant inflatable slide. Children can prepare (and be sent home with) reindeer food to attract Rudolph and his reindeer friends on Christmas Eve, and each child will receive a gift from Santa himself. “It has been a difficult year for so many, so we planned an event to offer cheer to our community,” said Avow Kids Manager Lea Pascotto. “We strive to live out our mission to create peace of mind by providing compassionate care and support to those who need us with events like this. We hope to ensure the community knows we are here for families struggling through loss with no-cost services and have been serving the community for 40 years.” On December 22, the community is also invited to join Avow’s board-certified music therapists as they lead participants in spreading holiday cheer to patients and employees at Avow through caroling for all ages. The event starts on Avow’s campus at 3.45 p.m. at Aunt Janet’s House and will make stops at each of the buildings, including lifting the hearts of those at the Frances Georgeson Hospice House with song. The event ends at 5 p.m. There is no need to RSVP for either event. The community is welcome and participants do not need to be involved with Avow Kids to join in. For information, please call 239-261-4404 or email avowkids@avowcares.org. Avow Kids is designed for children ages 5 to 17, providing no-cost support and companionship to children who are grieving a death or other types of loss including divorce, deportation, the loss of a friend, instability in foster care and deployed parents and family members. Since 1983, Avow Kids has held free in-person sessions, workshops and camps in Southwest Florida and online groups open to children and teens worldwide. About Avow: Avow was founded in 1983 as Collier County’s original, non-profit hospice. Today, Avow’s non-profit companies provide palliative care consultations for adults facing chronic or serious illness and hospice care and bereavement support services for children and adults.
