A Naples resident since 2011, Chris Auron is committed to serving the community. He particularly enjoys leading the NCC as he is an accomplished pilot and holds the highest certification as an aircraft mechanic. His career has focused on innovative software development, most recently in health-related data analytics and artificial intelligence. He served in the United States Air Force for 10 years and later in the Arizona Army National Guard. Appointed to the NCC in March 2019, he represents the geographic area northwest of the airport. With over 35 years of experience in local and municipal government service, Krawczun brings a wealth of public sector experience to the Committee. Having also taught at Rutgers University, he understands the critical importance of explaining complex topics in a way that the public can understand and appreciate. Appointed to the NCC in March 2020, he represents the geographic area southeast of the airport. The NCC is comprised of nine citizen volunteers who help monitor the impacts of aircraft noise and make recommendations about noise-mitigation procedures for consideration by the Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners. The members serve as volunteer representatives of the Collier County Commission, Naples City Council, general aviation pilots and six geographic areas around the airport. The NAA and NCC launched the “Fly Safe Fly Quiet” campaign in 2012 to encourage pilots and aircraft operators to do all they can to minimize aircraft noise. The campaign encourages pilots to observe the airport’s recommended 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. quiet hours, which currently has over 98% compliance. About Naples Airport Naples Airport is ideally located within minutes of downtown Naples, the Gulf of Mexico and I-75, connecting people to the Paradise Coast through an exceptional airport experience. The airport serviced over 122,000 annual operations in the last fiscal year, while being an engaged, responsive partner to the community. Home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies, and corporate aviation and non-aviation businesses, the airport is also a central location for public services, including fire/rescue services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services. The airport also prides itself on being the hub of emergency staging during natural disasters, like hurricanes and tornadoes, for first responders, lighting, and power crews. All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or federal and state grants from aviation-related user fees. The airport receives no local tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s annual economic impact to the community at more than $440 million.
