When you sign up with Alert Collier, you can enter up to five addresses within the County boundaries that you would like to receive emergency alerts. For example, enter your home, work, relative, school, or other meaningful address. Then, you will receive a notification if an alert is issued for that location. Register at www.AlertCollier.com or call 3-1-1 within Collier County. Collier County Emergency Management Director Dan Summers issues preparedness information as Subtropical Storm Nicole develops. Our emergency operations team will continue to monitor the storm and escalate operations, if needed. The county and municipalities will continue efforts to examine and clean any storm drains that could hinder drainage concerns. FEMA and the Florida Division of Emergency Management will be closing all Disaster Recovery Centers from Wednesday through Friday - Statewide. Collier EM will be making a Hurricane Ian update to the Board of County Commissioners tomorrow at 9:00 am and will provide an update to Subtropical Storm Nicole as well. Residents should be reminded to continue to monitor Subtropical Storm Nicole via radio, television, social media, the County’s Emergency Webpage as well as subscribe to Alert Collier. “Residents should continue to monitor Nicole’s track and forecast. While some gusty winds and light to moderate rainfall amounts are in our forecast presently, residents should continue recovery efforts and secure their property for moderate rains and occasionally gusty winds through Thursday,” said Emergency Management Director Dan Summers. “Marine interests should carefully monitor coastal conditions as Nicole may generate some on-shore flow through Friday.” Collier County staff has practiced for these types of events and has strong partnerships with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Florida Division of Emergency Management, our disaster clean-up companies and many outstanding non-governmental organizations. So be prepared, be patient, and help your neighbor, as that is what makes Collier County such a great place.
