Jason Hunter Korn Receives the Collier County Bar Association 2022 Lion of the Law Award NAPLES, FL (November 1, 2022) – The Collier County Bar Association honored attorney Jason Hunter Korn as the 2022 recipient of the Donald E. Van Koughnet Lion of the Law Award for Professionalism. The award recognizes excellence in legal skills, professionalism, and public service. Criteria for the Collier County Bar Association's most prestigious award also include a commitment to community service, a career marked by a reputation for professionalism and character, and great legal skill in advocacy. The Lion of the Law Award was presented to Jason on October 27, 2022, at the CCBA’s annual dinner at the Imperial Golf Club. Representatives of the judiciary from both Lee and Collier Counties attended the event, including 20th Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Michael T. McHugh, representatives of the judiciary from the Second District Court of Appeal, and the newly constituted Sixth District Court of Appeal. Judge Meredith L. Sasso, Chief Judge of the Sixth District Court of Appeal, provided remarks. Judge Darryl C. Casanueva of the Second District Court of Appeal also spoke at the event. Jason is an attorney with the law firm of Dentons Cohen & Grigsby, based in its Naples office. Dentons is the world’s largest law firm, with more than 12,000 lawyers in 200 locations. Jason is the Managing Shareholder of the Florida office and serves on the Firm's Oversight and Executive Committee, providing guidance on strategic matters and overseeing Firm management. Jason's practice concentrates on complex business, construction, and commercial litigation. His 30-year legal career involves civil, business, corporate, products, professional liability, and construction litigation across various industries. He is Florida Bar Board Certified in Construction Law. Jason has been very involved in the areas of ethics and professionalism for local and state bar associations, serving for many years on the Twentieth Judicial Circuit's Professionalism Committee and currently serving as Chief Judge's designee on the 20th Judicial Circuit's Professionalism Committee and Local Professionalism Panel. Jason previously served as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Professional Standards and as the principal drafter (along with former Chief Judge Hugh D. Hayes) of the Standards of Courtesy and Conduct for Lawyers Practicing in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit. Active in the profession, Jason currently serves as Vice-Chair of The Florida Bar's Professional Ethics Committee, having served multiple terms over the years on that Committee and as an arbitrator for the Grievance Mediation and Fee Arbitration Program. He previously served on the Bar's Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee. Jason also previously served as Chairman of the Judicial Nominating Committee of the 20th Judicial Circuit (appointed by Governor Jeb Bush), President of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Collier County Bar Association, and President of the American Inns of Court, Collier County. In the community, Jason has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Collier County, Chairman of the District Board of Florida SouthWestern State College Foundation, Board Member and Chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, Board Member and Chairman of the Investor Advisory Committee of the Southwest Florida Economic Development Alliance, and Board Member and Chair of the Governance Committee of The Gulfshore Playhouse. In 2021, the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce honored Jason with the Chairman’s Award, which recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond in service to the Chamber and the community. He was also recognized among the 2009 Collier County Education Foundation "Men of Distinction" honorees, which recognizes those who have distinguished themselves through extensive charitable community service in Collier County, and whose passion for helping others makes the community a better place.
