Wildlife needs natural corridors to move. Likewise, Floridians need large areas for agriculture, as well as to provide needed natural resources like watersheds. To help achieve this, rural landowners need equitable compensation programs for providing habitat for panthers and other wildlife - as well as to offset losses to their income from predation. More info as well as an award-winning short format documentary at www.thefloridapanther.org. The Florida Panther Festival provides an easily accessible way for families to learn the best ways to live with wildlife and get their questions answered by biologists and other professional wildlife experts from national and state parks, state and federal wildlife agencies, as well as other nature organizations. Drivers can help avoid costly accidents with animals by driving at the posted speeds in labeled wildlife and panther zones. Attendees can learn more and get a panther sticker at the festival or online at www.panthercrossing.org. In gratitude for saving the land under the historic botanical garden and zoo in 2004, Naples Zoo offers Collier County residents free admission on the first Saturday of each month including November 5 when the festival is hosted at the nationally accredited zoo.
