The Greater Naples Chamber will host Florida Gulf Coast University President Mike Martin to discuss the future of education during a virtual Wake Up Naples at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13. The event is free and open to the public. Martin will discuss the shift to virtual learning in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, lessons learned and what the future holds for Florida Gulf Coast University. Martin was selected to serve as the university’s fourth president in July 2017. Prior to joining FGCU, he served as the chancellor emeritus and senior fellow for the Colorado State University System. Martin has also served as chancellor of Louisiana State University, president of New Mexico State University, vice president for agriculture and natural resources at the University of Florida, vice president for agriculture policy at University of Minnesota, and 15 years on the faculty at Oregon State University. Martin has a bachelor’s degree in business and economics and a master’s degree in economic from Mankato State College, now Minnesota State University. He received in Ph.D. in applied economics from the University of Minnesota in 1977. The event is sponsored by Andrew Hill Investment Advisors.
