Support members of Collier Senior Resources’ (CSR) Golden Gate Senior Center, a nonprofit organization working to address the needs of older adults and their caregivers, by donating to “Give Where You Live Collier”, a 24-hour online fundraising campaign taking place noon to noon, February 19-20, 2020, at http://bit.ly/CSRGive2020. (Full link: https://www.givewhereyoulivecollier.org/organizations/collier-senior-resources). “It’s efforts like these that ensure Collier seniors have a safe, welcoming, diverse and caring place to explore new things, benefit from health and wellness programs, receive support and build meaningful relationships while caregivers receive the support they need, too,” explains Senior Center Director Tatiana Fortune, MSW. “Whether donating online, through stocks and advised funds, or by check, I can assure you the support is not only greatly needed, it’s immeasurably appreciated!” “Give Where You Live” supporters have 24-hours, from noon on Wednesday, February 19 to noon on Thursday, February 20, to make their donations online at http://bit.ly/CSRGive2020. Funds raised ensure CSR can not only continue offering vital programs, but new ones like UPSLIDE which provides women 60 years of age and older free counseling for depression, loneliness, isolation, building relationships and becoming more socially engaged. CSR offers support to both seniors and their caregivers, including: a daily hot lunch and coffee bar; weekly food pantry; blood pressure, vision and diabetes screenings; oral health assessments, balance testing and fall prevention lectures; birthday and holiday celebrations; yoga, dance and exercise classes; art therapy, cards, games and crafts; Alzheimer’s support groups; UPSLIDE and Direct Assistance Program for Needy, as well as other life-enhancing programs and services for Collier seniors, including 1,400 members. The nonprofit also serves more than 1,200 hot lunches a month to seniors in-need and provides 780+ families weekly access to a Meals of Hope food pantry, including 330 needy seniors. CSR maximizes each dollar received by collaborating with trusted partners to provide programs, socialization and convenient access to agencies including AARP Foundation (job placement and training for out-of-work, low-income seniors), Meals of Hope food pantry for all families in need, Alzheimer’s Support Network, Area Agency on Aging, Catholic Charities (social services), Collier Area Transport, Collier County Nutrition, SHINE Medicare counseling, Literacy Volunteers, Sheriff’s Office and more.
