The 12th annual WINK Feeds Families Hunger Walk will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Miromar Outlets in Estero, to benefit Harry Chapin Food Bank. It’s not too late to sign up as an individual or as a team to support the food bank’s mission to lead our community in the fight to end hunger. Just register at winkhungerwalk.com, or come to Miromar Outlets at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event to register onsite. The two-mile, non-competitive, family and pet-friendly walk is a great way to enjoy time with friends and loved ones and get some fresh air and exercise besides. Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, bring your pets, bring your co-workers! Our goal is $300,000. The walk supports programs that feed children, families, seniors, veterans and others in need in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties. These include the Care and Share: Senior Feeding Program, Harry’s Helpings, In-School Pantries, and Fulfill Mobile Pantries. The food bank also distributes food through its Partner Agency Program, a network of more than 150 partner agencies. Refreshments will be available from Sun Harvest Citrus, Panera Bread and others, as well as a drawing and silent auction with a large array of prizes, including round trip airfare for two. Presenting sponsors for the walk are Bill Smith Appliances & Electronics and Copperleaf Charitable Foundation. For more information, contact John Kuhn, food bank special events manager, at 239-334-7007, ext. 152, or at jkuhn@harrychapinfoodbank.org.
