The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Collier County Commissioners selected the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County as the Business of the Month for November 2019. Each month, the award is presented to an organization that has enhanced the community through financial, volunteer and active involvement in organizations and programs that creates a better quality of life for all citizens in Collier County. The Board of Collier County Commissioners and Bethany Sawyer, director of membership at the Greater Naples Chamber, presented President/CEO Megan McCarthy Beauvais with a commemorative plaque on Nov. 12 at the County Commission meeting. “The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County is honored to be recognized by the Naples Chamber,” said Beauvais. “We are excited to continue our commitment of assuring success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with the help of local businesses, community partners and government leaders.” Founded in 1998, the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County is a youth development organization that provides daily after-school and summer enrichment programs for local youth, ages six to eighteen. The organization’s mission is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The after-school programs offered by the Boys & Girls Club are designed to boost academic performance, reduce risky behavior, promote physical health and wellness and provide an outlet for creativity. Core program areas include education and career development, the arts, fitness, character and leadership development, and health and life skills. Last year, with the help of 600 volunteers, the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County served 3,000 club members through its locations in Naples and Immokalee. Additionally, it has seen a 100% graduation rate among its high school seniors, each with a positive plan set in place for their future.
