Dr. Michael V. Martin, president of Florida Gulf Coast University, will deliver the keynote address at the Family Friendly Business Awards present by Collier Child Care Resources (CCCR). The Awards Luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the Hilton Naples. Sue Huff is emcee. Martin’s keynote address, “It’s Never too Early to Start Educating”, focuses on the importance of education during the first five years for a child’s lifelong success. Tickets are $50 per person. To purchase tickets or sponsorships, visit http://collierchildcare.org/awards. CCCR’s Executive Director/CEO, Niccole Howard, says, “We are excited that Dr. Martin wants to speak about the importance of early education. Most do not realize that the brain is 90% developed by age five. Genes provide a blueprint for the brain, but experiences and learning during the first five years greatly impact brain development and IQ.” This year, 73 local organizations will be named a “Family Friendly Business” at the Awards Luncheon. Of these, four will be selected an Employer of the Year, honoring them as the top in their category. Genco Office Systems is the presenting sponsor of the event. Pathways Early Education Center of Immokalee, DeAneglis Diamond and Guadalupe Center are also sponsors. Sponsorships are still available and start at only $200. For more information about sponsorships, please email Laura Bidireanu at LauraB@CollierChildCare.org. Howard, says, “Family-friendly workplace policies pay big dividends by attracting and retaining top talent. CCCR is proud to host this program because it brings value to our whole community.” About the Family Friendly Business Awards For the past 20 years, the Family Friendly Business Awards have acknowledged local businesses that support employees with families. Any business which offers benefits that assist employees in raising their children–such as flex time, health insurance or childcare reimbursement–are eligible to be recognized as a “Family Friendly Business”.
