NAPLES, Fla. (July 10, 2018) – Vanderbilt Country Club, a top-tier bundled golf community in Naples, is now the first homeowner’s association in Southwest Florida to have a Blue Zones Project Approved™ restaurant on site for their members. A recognition ceremony and ribbon cutting took place on June 14. “As a chef, one of my goals has always been to provide menu options for our members that afford them the opportunity to make healthy choices,” stated Mitchell Excell, executive chef, Vanderbilt Country Club. “We see that future food trends are including more plant-based items- dishes that include beans, grains, and meat and fish in smaller servings. I’m pleased to now offer healthier choices on our menu, so our members may work towards a more active and healthy lifestyle.” To become a Blue Zones Project Approved™ Restaurant, Vanderbilt Country Club added four Blue Zones® Inspired plant-based entrees for adults, and two for children. They added information about Blue Zones Project on their guest receipts, and the restaurant became tobacco-free, not only inside, but also in their outside dining areas. They join more than 180 other area companies involved with Blue Zones Project – Southwest Florida, a community-by-community, well-being improvement initiative designed to support longer, better lives through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks. Principles are based on lifestyles in Blue Zones® areas, which are pockets of the world where people live longer with less chronic disease and higher quality of life. Brought to Southwest Florida by NCH Healthcare System, in collaboration with Sharecare®, Inc. and Blue Zones, LLC, Blue Zones Project is a vital part of Southwest Florida’s well-being improvement initiative that encourages changes in the community that lead to healthier options.
