NAPLES (Florida) – June 7, 2018 – Opera Naples’ Summer Youth Program presents Gilbert & Sullivan's comedic operetta, Iolanthe, Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 at the Wang Opera Center, 2408 Linwood Ave, Naples, FL. The June 23 performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the June 24 performance will be a Sunday matinee at 3:00 p.m. All ages can enjoy this lighthearted operetta. Opera Naples’ Summer Youth Program is an intensive and exciting learning experience for participants ages 13 to 21 years of age. Students rehearse for two weeks before the performances in addition to taking masterclasses and workshops that focus on various aspects of opera including vocal technique, acting, and prop construction. Iolanthe will be directed by Emily Cuk, who is artistic director for the Eastman Opera collective and a recent graduate with M.M. in Opera Directing from the prestigious Eastman School of Music. She will be partnering with Robin Frank, Opera Naples’ Director of Educational Outreach and Chorus Master, who serves as the musical director for this production. The fanciful comedic opera, Iolanthe, is a story of love between mortal humans and immortal fairies. Filled with amiable absurdities and splendid pageantry, it is a cheerful satire that spoofs the aristocracy and political elite of the time. TICKETING INFORMATION Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for children/students. For tickets and more information, please call (239) 963-9050 or visit operanaples.org.
