Naples, Fla. (May 18, 2018) – National news site USA Today has released results from its latest 10Best Readers' Choice travel award contest and both Naples and Everglades City ranked in the top ten in their specific categories. Naples finished ninth in the category of “Best Small Town Food Scene,” while Everglades City finished sixth in the category of “Best Small Town for Adventure.” Nominees for all categories are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; relevant expert contributors; and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties. The experts identify the top 20 cities before the ballot is open to the public. To qualify, a city could have a population no bigger than 25,000 people. The contest was then open to the public to vote on his/her favorite city over the course of four weeks, with consumers eligible to vote once per day over the course of 30 days. “Florida’s Paradise Coast continues to see a rise in visitors year over year, and our local restaurants, attractions and hotels have continued to evolve and get better to meet the demand,” said Jack Wert, Executive Director of Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. “With hundreds of chef-driven and independently owned restaurants, the dining scene in Naples is growing rapidly and notable chefs want to be a part of this emerging culinary city. On the adventure side, the Everglades are one of the hidden gems of Florida and many people don’t realize how accessible the area is from Naples and Marco Island. It’s a great place for adventure seekers of all levels.” The full rankings for “Best Small Town Food Scene” and “Best Small Town for Adventure” can be found on the USA Today website.
