Naples, FL – 4/30/18 – Collier Senior Resources (CSR), a nonprofit organization working to address the needs of older adults and their caregivers, is being awarded a $5,000 grant from the Naples Woman’s Club during a check presentation ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the charity’s Golden Gate Senior Center, 4898 Coronado Parkway, Naples 34116. The $5,000 grant will support the Center’s Art Therapy Program. “The program’s crafted to provide a supportive space for our 1,000 members to tap into their creativity to enhance self-awareness, explore and express their emotions, address unresolved conflicts safely while improving their social skills and self-esteem,” explains Center Director Tatiana Fortune. “The benefits of building lasting relationships, a sense of belonging and peer-support can’t be ignored, especially for our members who don’t have family in the area.” CSR operates the Golden Gate Senior Center and offers a wide-range of programs and services to support seniors and their loved ones. The organization maximizes each dollar received by collaborating with trusted partners to provide programs, socialization and convenient access to other agencies, including AARP Foundation (job placement and training for out-of-work, low-income seniors), Meals of Hope food pantry for all families in need, Alzheimer’s Support Network, Area Agency on Aging, Catholic Charities (social services), Collier Area Transport, Collier County Nutrition, SHINE Medicare counseling, Literacy Volunteers, Sheriff’s Office and more. Additionally, CSR provides: a daily hot lunch and coffee bar; weekly food pantry, blood pressure, vision and diabetes screenings, oral health assessments, balance testing and fall prevention lectures; monthly birthday parties, dance and exercise classes, art therapy, cards and games, holiday parties, Alzheimer’s support groups, crafts and other life-enhancing programs and services for seniors. Through the Golden Gate Senior Center, CSR serves more than 1,200 hot lunches a month to seniors in-need and provides 780+ families weekly access to a Meals of Hope food pantry, including 330 needy seniors.
