The Collier County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees. Instructions on how to apply at below. The All Terrain Vehicle Park Ad Hoc Committee has one vacancy. This committee was established to assist the Board in researching and identifying lands that are appropriate and suitable for an ATV park. Applicants shall, to the extent possible, be community members who are ATV riders and who have demonstrated a substantial interest in working with Collier County staff to determine a potential site for the ATV Park. The Bayshore Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee has one vacancy, for a permanent resident or owner of commercial property within the MSTU. This seven-member committee assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median strips of roadways within the MSTU; providing traffic calming improvements; and beautification and maintenance of other areas within the MSTU. Members will prepare and recommend an itemized budget to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years. The Bayshore/Gateway Triangle CRA Board has one vacancy for a resident of the Gateway Triangle area, and three seats expiring in May in the categories of: Davis Blvd. business, MSTU member, and member at-large. This nine-member board assists in the implementation of the redevelopment plan for the Bayshore/Gateway Triangle area. Terms are three years. The Black Affairs Advisory Board has two vacancies. This nine-member committee identifies and evaluates problems unique to the Black Community, reviews and recommends ways to ensure open communication between minorities and Collier County Government and provides periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years. The Board of Building Adjustments and Appeals has one vacancy. Applicants must represent one of the following professions: a licensed plumbing or mechanical contractor. This five-member board hears appeals on rejections or refusals by the Building Code Compliance Director to approve mode of construction or materials to be used in construction or alteration of a structure. Members must be knowledgeable in the following Collier County Codes: Florida Building Codes, Electrical Code, Fire Prevention Code, Gas Code, Mechanical Code and Swimming Pool Code. Terms are four years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board. The Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee has one vacancy. This committee's primary responsibility is to recommend to the BCC an Active Properties Acquisition List with qualified purchase recommendations of environmentally sensitive lands consistent with the goals of the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Program. Membership of the committee shall comprise broad and balanced representation including environmental and conservation interests, agricultural and business interests, educational interests, and general civic and citizen interests within the County. Members shall have expertise, knowledge or interest in ecology, conservation of natural resources, real estate or land acquisition, land appraisal, land management, eco-tourism or environmental education. Terms are three years. The Contractors Licensing Board has two vacancies for a consumer representative. Consumer applicants should have no ties to the construction industry. This nine-member board was created to determine the qualifications of applicants for the various categories of the Contractors' Certificates of Competency. They also hold hearings to determine if a certificate of competency of any contractor, master or journeyman should be revoked. Terms are three years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board. The Educational Facilities Authority has one vacancy. The purpose of this five-member authority is to assist institutions for higher education in the construction, financing, and refinancing of projects. One member shall be a trustee, director, officer, or employee of an institution for higher education located in Collier County. Terms are five years. The Floodplain Management Planning Committee is seeking to fill a vacancy for a local community member. The committee’s scope of responsibility was established by Resolution No. 06-200, as amended, to develop a Floodplain Management Plan and at least annually evaluate and update the Floodplain Management Plan. The purpose of the Floodplain Management Plan is to promote awareness of the County’s floodplain and flooding issues, identify known flood hazards, discuss past flooding events, assess the current floodplain and flooding issues, and set goals along with a strategy to make the community more resistant to flooding. This committee consists of interested members of the public, incorporated municipalities within Collier County, and County staff. The committee meets quarterly and is under direction of the County Manager. The Golden Gate Community Center Advisory Board has one vacancy. Members must reside within the boundaries of the Golden Gate Community Center Municipal Services Special Taxing District. This five-member committee advises the Board of County Commissioners on the budget and operation of the Golden Gate Community Center. Terms are three years. The Lely Golf Estates Beautification Advisory Committee has one vacancy. This five-member committee prepares and recommends an itemized budget for the Lely Golf Estates Beautification Municipal Service Taxing Unit and aids and assists the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the services of the taxing unit. Members must reside within the boundaries of the municipal service taxing unit. Terms are four years. The Senior Advisory Committee is seeking applications for a member from commission district 5. Applicants for commission district seats must be nominated by the commissioner of the district they reside in. All members must be 62 years of age or older. The purpose of this committee is to assist the Board of County Commissioners in compiling and identifying issues and relevant best practices concerning senior citizens in Collier County. Terms are one year, unless further extended by the BCC. The Water and Wastewater Authority has one seat expiring in May for a technical member. Applicants must have expertise in engineering, finance, or business administration. This five-member authority regulates utility rates and related matters regarding non-exempt water and wastewater utilities in unincorporated Collier County. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 4 years. This is a quasi-judicial board.
