Marco Island, February 20, 2018: Marco Island Center for the Arts is pleased to present the 5th annual “Cars as Art” event on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm featuring pre-1978 unmodified antique and classic automobiles. Each of the cars will be judged by qualified art professionals. The awarding will consist of Judges Choice and the People’s Choice. The event will be held in the Art Center’s parking lot at 1010 Winterberry Drive. There is a suggested $5 per person donation for visitors. Food and refreshments will be available to purchase. Visitor parking is available across the street from the Art Center at the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island’s parking lot. Although the purpose of any car is to be functional, many of its design elements can include truly artistic touches. There was a time when the car was designed mainly for aesthetic purposes. Now, chrome and emblems are the car’s visual art and illustrate the personal flair of the designer. The “Cars as Art” fundraiser has become like bright headlights traveling down Collier Boulevard on Marco Island. It shines a light on a different type of ART. Many of the cars will be a complete masterpiece unto itself in every aspect of visual design and sculpture. Sponsoring this visually entertaining event are Clair and Jack Keery, and Keith Pershing at Island Automotive. Car entry is $25 and registration forms are available at the Art Center or marcoislandart.org/event/cars-as-art/. Contact for questions is Keith Pershing at 239-394-1889 or carshows@islandautomotiveinc.com. The Art Center’s Gift Gallery will be open so you can purchase affordable and one-of-a-kind treasures created by local and regional artists. The Art Center’s Clay Guild will also be having its end of the season sale. Shop Local. Shop Art. Have Fun!
