Naples, Fl – Naples Therapeutic Riding Center (NTRC), a not-for-profit equestrian center that provides therapeutic horseback riding and equine-related programs for children and adults with special needs, social interaction difficulties and physical challenges, will host it’s inaugural “Horsin’ a Round Golf Classic” on Monday, January 29 at Quail West Golf & Country Club with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start. Bob Daggett, co-chair of the event. "We're excited to offer the golfing community a way in which to support the efforts of a great organization that serves people with various physical and mental disabilities through the launch of this first-ever tournament.” The skills developed through golf such as coordination, balance, core strength and motor skills are similar to the skills the participants develop through NTRC’s programs. “It makes sense that NTRC launch a golf tournament to recognize those similarities,” commented Co-Chair George Jacobs. Individuals, businesses and organizations are invited to participate. The cost for a sponsorship which includes a foursome is $2,500, a foursome is $1,200 and an individual player is $325. The format for the tournament is a 4-player Scramble. Prizes include a hole-in-one, longest drive and closest to the pin, in addition to awards for the winning teams. A silent auction will take place along with other ways in which players can support the mission of NTRC. A boxed lunch will be provided to each player prior to the start. At 5:30 p.m. there will be an awards reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Proceeds from the tournament will fund the NTRC’s vital programs including therapeutic riding, equine-facilitated psychotherapy (EFP), equine-facilitated learning (EFL), Operation Strides (a program for military veterans) and other equine-facilitated activities.
