NAPLES (Florida), United States – Dec. 12, 2017 – Naples’ premiere opera company, Opera Naples, presents the first concert in their Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series, featuring New York Philharmonic Concertmaster Frank Huang and Beaux Arts Artistic Director Tao Lin on January 16th at Opera Naples Wang Opera Center at 7:30 PM. The duo will feature masterworks for violin and piano. Later in the month, on January 31st at Opera Naples Wang Opera Center at 7:30 PM, Opera Naples will present the first of this season’s Opera Stars Concerts featuring mezzo-soprano MarÍa José Montiel, made famous by her role as Carmen, and pianist Ramón Tebar, Opera Naples’ Artistic Director. Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series Featuring Violinist Frank Huang – January 16th at 7:30 PM. Program to include Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, Saint-Saens’ Rondo Capriccioso, and Strauss Sonata for Violin and Piano, and more. Having played violin since the age of 7, performed in front of a national audience with the Houston Symphony at the age of 11 and won acclaim in competitions since the age of 15, Huang has shown no signs of slowing down. In addition to winning Naumburg and Hannover International Violin Competitions, Frank Huang occupies arguably the most enviable position in classical music today: concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Huang has established a major career as a violin virtuoso appearing with orchestras throughout the world and broadcast on major TV networks, showcasing his renowned talent. Tao Lin, co-founder and Artistic Director of the Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series, currently serves on the faculty of Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine and as visiting professor at Shanghai Normal University. He has numerous recordings on Centaur, Artek, Naxos, and Romeo labels. Opera Stars Concert Featuring María José Montiel – January 31st at 7:30 PM. María José Montiel, hailed as one of the great mezzo-sopranos of our day, gained fame for her role as Carmen. She is a lover of concert repertoire and will enchant the audience with an evening of beautiful French, Spanish and Brazilian songs as well as beloved operatic arias. She will be joined by pianist and Opera Naples’ artistic director, Ramón Tebar. MarÍa José Montiel has many accolades, including the prize for Best Female Singer in the 2012 Teatro Campoamor Opera Award Ceremony, and was the first Spanish singer to win in this category in the history of the awards. She was born in Madrid and graduated in vocal performance from the Royal Conservatoire, studying with Pedro Lavirgen and Ana María Iriarte before moving to Vienna to further her training with Sena Jurinac and O. Mijakovic. Montiel has had a prolific and long-lasting career, singing with top conductors including Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly and Placido Domingo in the most prestigious concert halls and theaters in the world.
