NOVEMBER 8, 2017 – FORT MYERS, FLA – Music lovers can enjoy a series of fall concerts performed by students in Florida SouthWestern State College’s (FSW) Music program in November. Concerts are held in the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall, 13350 FSW Parkway, Fort Myers. Doors open at 7 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public. Concert schedule: Tuesday, Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m. – FSW Jazz Big Bands and Jazz Combo Hear the FSW Jazz Ensembles as they perform works by jazz legends Count Basie, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley, Pat Metheny, Doc Severinsen and many more. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 7:30 p.m. – FSW Orchestra and Choir The FSW Symphony Orchestra and College Choir present an evening of Brahms, Respighi and Nelhybel. Also featured will be Antonio Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra” and his “Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra.” Completing the evening will be a presentation of traditional holiday carols. Thursday, Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m. – FSW Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble Join the FSW Concert Band as they present a program of music themed around buccaneers and songs of the sea. Works will include Saint-Saens’ “Occident and Orient;” Rimsky-Korsakow’s “Scheherazade No. 1: The Sea and Sinbad’s Ship,” arranged by Mark Hindsley; Samuel Hazo’s “Arabesque;” “Anotolia (Turkish Rhapsody)” by Paul Creston and more.
