NAPLES, Fla. – October 23, 2017 – Southwest Florida military veterans will receive a special ceremony in honor of Veterans Day this year. As a way to honor and pay tribute to the men and women who have served in the United States military, Hodges University’s Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center (VSC) will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 10 at 11:00 a.m. “Hodges University is a veteran-friendly institution, and it is an honor for us to be able to host a ceremony each year to pay tribute to our veterans,” said Christine Manson, chief of student success at Hodges. “Attendees can expect to pause from the business of the day and spend time reflecting on the service of our veterans.” The 30-minute ceremony will include the Gulf Coast JROTC, a flag folding ceremony by two of Hodges’ student veterans, as well as guest speaker Dale Mullin, founder and president of Wounded Warriors of Collier County, Inc. and United States Army veteran. Wounded Warriors of Collier County, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. In the past six years, Mullin’s organization has raised more than $725,000 for veterans. He has also been a staunch supporter of the Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center and has provided support to Hodges’ student veterans in the way of academic scholarships. “Dale Mullin’s generosity to Hodges University has directly impacted more than 20 of our student veterans in the way of Yellow Ribbon and scholarship support. Inviting him to serve as the guest speaker at our Veterans Day ceremony is a great way for our students to connect with one of their supporters,” Manson added. Continuing the celebration, there will be a reception with cake and refreshments at the conclusion of the event. The event will be held in the John White Community Room on the Naples campus, which is located at 2647 Professional Way, Naples, FL 34119.
