The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida invites you to join our honored list of sponsors supporting the 2018 WINK Feeds Families Hunger Walk. This is the Hunger Walk’s 10th anniversary and we’re celebrating a decade of walking to raise funds to feed the hungry. We value our sponsors’ partnership and seek more businesses and individuals who want to join in the mission to lead our community in the fight to end hunger. The 10th annual walk, which kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20, 2018, is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the food bank. The two-mile, non-competitive, family and pet-friendly walk will be held at the Miromar Outlets in Estero. The 2017 Hunger Walk raised $325,000. Our goal for the 2018 Walk is $340,000. The Walk supports emergency food programs that feed children, families, seniors and others in need through the food bank’s network of more than 150 partner agencies. These agencies operate food pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs that serve 28,000 Southwest Floridians each week. Sponsorship is an opportunity to let the public see your commitment to the community’s quality of life and willingness to give back. All funds from the Walk will stay in the Southwest Florida area. Each $1 donated can provide $8 in food value. In 2017, the Walk raised enough to provide $2.6 million worth of food to those in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties who often don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Last fiscal year, the Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed 22.3 million pounds of food and other grocery items, valued at $37.3 million. This was the equivalent of about 18.6 million meals. This year has been particularly challenging due to the blow dealt to the community by Hurricane Irma and the heightened need as we struggle for long-term recovery. Please join us in working toward that recovery. The walk is presented by Bill Smith Electronics & Appliances and the Copperleaf Charitable Foundation. Our Gold sponsors are 7-Eleven, CenturyLink, Lipman and Suncoast Credit Union. More sponsorships are available. Supporters can also form teams to raise money and participate in the event.
