NAPLES, Fla. – October 11, 2017 – Hodges University is pleased to welcome back lecturer and authority on 20th century European history Elliott Katz, who will present his sixth annual Holocaust lecture series beginning January 11, 2018. Spending more than 40 years studying European history from World War I to the end of World War II, Katz will provide audiences with in-depth research conducted at the National Archives in Bethesda, Maryland, The British National Archives and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Library. The lectures contain an unusual experience featuring audiovisual content and archival photographs rarely seen in public. Alongside Sy Stadtmauer, senior fellow of Holocaust Research Studies, both are certified to conduct research on pre-Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) files at the archives. “What Elliott presents to the audience is factually correct information that we spend much time gathering. Audiences can expect information from never before seen documents,” said Stadtmauer. This year’s lecture series schedule is as follows: •Thank You for the Bomb, Mr. Hitler (January 11) •Perfume, Powder, Lotions and Beauty (January 25) •The Auschwitz Volunteer and the Gasman (February 8) •The Ships Nobody Wanted (February 22) •Meet Your New Neighbor Mr. and Mrs. America, a Mass Murderer (March 8) •Righteous Among the Nations Redux: Maybe You Were Right, Anne (March 22) “The Elliott Katz Lecture Series is arguably one of the most attended series in Southwest Florida. Each lecture within the series clearly, precisely and accurately presents the unvarnished facts as they unfolded,” said Stadtmauer. “The goal of this series is to educate and inform others about the history and to not be afraid to speak out against intolerance.” Registration is required, and individual lectures are $12. To attend the complete lecture series, the cost is $60 per person. To view a complete listing of lecture topics, visit http://www.hodges.edu/cll/lecture_series.aspx.
