Wounded Warriors of Collier County to present check January 24 NAPLES, Fla. – January 17, 2017 – The student veterans scholarship program at Hodges University will now receive additional funding thanks to a generous gift from the Wounded Warriors of Collier County. On January 24, 2017, Hodges University will receive a gift of $25,000 from Wounded Warriors of Collier County (WWCC), which is a nonprofit organization dedicated “to raising and donating funds to worthy organizations whose mission is to empower post 9-11 veterans and their families with recovery and transition programs and services.” The check presentation will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the John White Community Room in the Stock Building on the university’s Naples campus. “The continued financial support from Wounded Warriors of Collier County is instrumental in the success of our student veterans. The funds will support our Post 9/11 student veterans and keep the Yellow Ribbon Program going strong,” said Christine Manson, director of Hodges’ Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center. The organization, which is formerly known as Charity Golf for Wounded Warriors, stands by its mission of honoring and empowering wounded warriors. Each November, the organization hosts a dinner and golf tournament in an effort to raise awareness and monetary support for the Wounded Warrior Project. “We are committed to helping our veterans in Southwest Florida with their educational needs to increase their knowledge and skills for better jobs and career opportunities. Hodges University has outstanding educational and service programs in place to serve our veterans,” said Dale Mullin, founder of Wounded Warriors of Collier County and Vietnam veteran. Dr. Donald Wortham, president of Hodges University, remarked of the generous gift, saying, “We are honored to receive this gracious gift from Wounded Warriors of Collier County.
