HGTV’s Michele Roark will share design secrets in the first event on Jan. 25 Naples, FL (January 17, 2017) — Habitat for Humanity Collier County’s Director of Store Operations, Mara Foley, today announced “Do More with ReStore,” a series of DIY (do-it-yourself) events hosted by professional designers which will demonstrate how to reuse and repurpose home furnishings and building materials. The first event, entitled ReDesign with ReStore, will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 11 am at the Home Furnishings ReStore located at 11127 Tamiami Trail East in Naples. Presented by Michele Roark, decorating consultant and designer featured on HGTV‘s 'Decorating Cents' and 'Our Place,” the event will feature tips, tricks and techniques for refreshing the look of your home simply by rearranging the pieces you already own. Ms. Roark has been redesigning and staging homes for 20 years and previously wrote a monthly column for Chesapeake Publishing's Home and Shore Home and Garden magazines. She is the past Vice Director and founding member of the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists. “What I love about Michelle is that she can show you how to create a whole new look in a space without spending a dime,” says Foley. “It’s all about arranging your furniture and accessories so that your home is beautiful, but comfortable and functional at the same time.” Plans are underway for the next events in the Do More with ReStore series, including ReFinish with ReStore – a kitchen makeover event hosted by McCarty Design at the Home Improvement Center at 5430 Yahl Street on February 28, and ReUpholster with ReStore – an upholstery event by Home Fashion Upholstery on March 15 at the Home Furnishings ReStore at 11127 Tamiami Trail East. All Do More with ReStore events are free and open to the public. RSVP by email to snolte@habitatcollier.org or call (239) 732-1672. “We’re big fans of the DIY movement and we know that a lot of our customers are, too. A lot of them are already repurposing and refinishing items they find here,” says Foley. “That’s why we’re putting on these events. It’s a chance for people to pick up a new skill, meet people with similar interests and maybe get some ideas that they hadn’t thought of before.” Habitat for Humanity of Collier County operates two distinctive ReStore locations. The Home Improvement Center, located at 5430 Yahl Street, focuses on the sale of quality, gently-used appliances, home fixtures and construction items, and the Home Furnishings Store, located at 11127 Tamiami Trail East, offers a selection of high-quality furniture and home furnishings. Proceeds from items sold in both ReStores support the construction of affordable housing through Habitat for Humanity. Habitat Collier, which offers affordable mortgages to qualified home buyers, helps residents live in safe, affordable homes in the Naples and Immokalee areas. Prospective home buyers go through an extensive financial screening, must volunteer sweat equity hours building homes and attend classes to learn about home maintenance, budgeting and community living. About Habitat for Humanity ReStores For more than 10 years, the Habitat Collier Home Furnishings Store has provided the community with opportunities to make tax deductible donations of unwanted items, reducing the amount of waste entering local landfills. It provides customers with an ever-changing collection of new and gently-used furniture, housewares, and more at a fraction of the cost of buying new. In December, 2015, Habitat Collier opened a second ReStore, a Discount Home Improvement Center to provide the public with a greater selection of home improvement materials and appliances. Donations are accepted at either location. For general questions about stores or to schedule a free donation pickup, call 239-732-6388.
